Will Potter, Author of “Green Is The New Red”
Saturday, May 7, 2016
7 pm at The Loft Cinema Theater
3233 E Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ

“Activism Is Not Terrorism”.  Will Potter will give a presentation followed by a Q&A session and will be available to chat and for book signings, before and after the presentation.

Will Potter is an award-winning investigative journalist and author.  He specializes in dissident politics and culture, the policing of dissent, and civil liberties post-9/11.  His reporting and commentary have been featured in a wide range of the world’s top media outlets, including the Washington Post, CNN, National Geographic, WIRED, NPR, the History Channel, and Rolling Stone.

His book, Green Is The New Red: An Insider’s Account of a Social Movement Under Siege, exposes how non-violent animal rights and environmental protesters came to be classified by the FBI as “eco-terrorists.” It has been translated into Spanish, French, Serbian, and Italian, and was awarded a Kirkus Star for “remarkable merit."

Will has been invited to testify before the U.S. Congress about his reporting, as the only witness opposing the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, and he has spoken about his investigations of “ag-gag” laws before the Australian Parliament.

Will’s website, www.GreenIsTheNewRed.com (GNR), is an independent news service that publishes original, investigative journalism and breaking news about civil liberties in the post-9/11 era.

Glenn Greenwald described Potter as “the most knowledgeable journalist in the country on these issues,” and said GNR “exhaustively covers” civil liberties threats. Potter is currently a Knight Fellow in Law Reporting at the University of Michigan, and serves as executive editor of GNR, overseeing the news team and all editorial content.
